Product Information - Schwibbogen Christmas Market of Dresden (2nd limited Edition)- 81x31x52cm / 32x12x20inch

Dive into the magical world of Dresden's famous Christmas market. Manufacturer Klaus Kolbe created a masterpiece that brings Christmas atmosphere into your home like nothing else. Countless moving elements in front of an illuminated city line make you feel the vivid, cozy atmosphere of Dresden's large Christmas market.

In the upper part, you see the bustling market also known as Striezelmarkt. Many people are busy buying their typical Ore mountains Christmas presents such as nutcrackers, candle arches and wooden toys that are sold in the market booths. Mullet wine is given out and a large Christmas pyramid is the center of the market scene. Many more lovely details, all handmade and -painted, make this arch feel like a neverending exploration.
The lower part tells a story from the past: The invention of porcelain by Johann Friedrich Böttger and Ehrenfried Walter of Tschirhaus. Böttger, a young pharmacist, boasted that he could change base metals into noble metal. Because of that, he was captured by Augustus the strong. Augustus wanted Böttger to chance metals into gold to fill the state treasury. During his 12-year long imprisonment, Böttger and von Tschrinhaus managed to invent the famous Saxonian porcelain. Both were freed eventually, but died shortly after. The invention of porcelain, one of the most important innovations of the region, is shown in the base of this magical candle arch.
The plaything was manufactured in Switzerland and exclusively created for this candle arch. The arch is limited to 1000 pieces and the first edition of this arch was sold out very quickly.
