Volkskunstwerkstatt Unger

Volkskunstwerkstatt Unger

The history of the company Volkskunstwerkstatt (folk art workshop) Unger starts in 1875 in Steinberg, when Hugo Unger begins to turn woodcraft. The business has been handed down from one generation to the next ever since and is now led by Torsten Unger.

The enthusiasm for the cultural heritage lives on in the family. Torsten’s daughter Julia represents the fifth generation working in the family business. The product range covers traditional Ore Mountain Christmas handcrafts like pyramids, candle holders, music boxes and carolers. In all those products the Ungers created and cultivated their specific style though. The bright natural colors of the local wood and the gentle shapes are typical for the inventive pyramids and the tasteful Christmas decoration manufactured by the Volkskunstwerkstatt. For their modern LIGNULUM candle arch the company was honored with the “Tradition & Form” award. The love for their work becomes obvious in every single piece made by Torsten Unger and his team.
