Detailed nutcracker motifs
Each of Ulbricht's nutcrackers is a universe unto itself, brimming with vibrant characters and compelling stories. Whether you prefer the friendly Bavarian, sporting a Seppel hat and clutching a beer stein, or the traditionally dressed Indian with feather ornaments or even the slightly eerie Calavera with its sinister mask and skull - the choice is up to you.
The imaginative design of the figures reveals not only the ingenuity of the maker, but also his irrepressible passion in the craft. Ulbricht's nutcrackers, available in an assortment of sizes, shapes, and colors, draw inspiration from diverse cultural, historical, and festive themes.
The chimney sweep by Ulbricht brings happiness to your living room with his sooty black clothes, red and white neckerchief and tools under his arms. The ladybug on his dark top hat and the four-leaf clover on his ladder suggest an old superstition. The profession of chimney sweep is still believed to bring good luck. Would you like your luck to come to you"
Premium Series
The nutcrackers of the "Christian Ulbricht Premium Nutcracker" series cover a wide range of motifs that are truly a class apart. With some models released in limited quantities, their rarity amplifies their appeal among collectors. Among our collection of Premium Nutcrackers, we are proud to present, for example, the following fellows:
- William Shakespeare - one of the greatest playwrights of all time. Actors brought his great plays to life in the Globe Theatre of old England and helped the Bard to eternal fame. Brought to life in a vibrant purple robe and a white pen in hand, this nutcracker pays tribute to the Bard"s enduring legacy. He even holds a beautifully crafted rendition of Romeo and Juliet. This ode to the literary genius is bound to make Shakespeare enthusiasts swoon.
- The "Black Forester" comes from a completely different corner. He has his very own and technically special accessory: the flower-painted clock he holds in his hands is modeled on one of the now rare Black Forest clocks with painted shield, and is quite functional. It is powered by a 1.5V R6 battery.
- In addition to specially dressed Santa Claus figures and everyday figures such as the barbecue chef with a kettle grill, the premium series of Ulbricht nutcrackers holds other curious surprises for you, such as a Halloween edition with scary specimens a la Dracula or those celebrating the vibrant Mexican festival, "Dios de los Muertos."
Small and large nutcrackers
- Mini nutcrackers: the "minis" are the smallest nutcrackers with a height of up to 5.9 inches and thus popular decorative objects or as a thoughtful small gift.
- Small nutcrackers, measuring between 5.9-11.8 inches, are an elegant size for display.
- Premium nutcrackers: ranging from 11.8-23.6 inches correspond to the classic nutcracker dimensions. Among the larger ones, there are also some versions even functional for cracking nuts.
- XXL nutcrackers, impressively tall at 23.6 to 71 inches, are often used in public displays due to their striking stature.
About Christian Ulbricht GmbH
Christian Ulbricht's father was the founder of the company "Otto Ulbricht - Werksttten fr feine Holzarbeiten und Spielwaren" in Seiffen in 1928.
The notable success of this gifted entrepreneur primarily resided in the development of innovative shapes and forms, fusing novel concepts with time-tested techniques. This potent combination quickly bore fruit as, in 1936, Otto Ulbricht received the prestigious gold medal at the Paris World's Fair. This honor was in recognition of his extraordinary designs of children's room clocks and a charming assembly of Carol singers, securing him the esteemed title of World Champion in Mural Art. This accolade marked the commencement of a remarkable corporate journey that continues to this day.
However, the upheavals of the Second World War brought unforeseen challenges, leading to the heartbreaking decision for Ulbricht to relinquish control of the Seiffen-based company. The war's aftermath dramatically changed the trajectory of his business, highlighting a poignant chapter in the company's rich history.
He later fled to the West with his family and re-established the company in Lauingen on the Danube. His son, Christian Ulbricht, bought back his father's company in 1968 after reunification and continues to run it with extraordinary passion. The Ulbricht company sells incense smokers, decorative figurines, miniatures, Easter articles, ornaments and light decorations. The Ulbricht gnomes and his famous nutcrackers are considered the top products of the manufacturer.
