The brand WEHA Holzkunst is known for its lovely flower girls as year-round decoration. The purely handcrafted girl figurines with their colorful dresses and flowers embody the joys of carefree summer days. The father of the WEHA flower girls is Fritz Haupt who founded the company WEHA Kunst (WEHA art) in 1946. Originally, the production of fairy tale pictures and small turned wooden Christmas figures was only intended as a temporary solution when the trained architect Fritz Haupt was unable to pursue his work at the university in Dresden due to the severe war damages in this city. Soon the "Werkstätten Haupt" under the name of WEHA Kunst also devoted themselves to the design of flower girls - not yet suspecting that the small colored WEHA flower girls with their filigree blossoms would be known even in the USA and Asia a few decades later. Due to the great success, production grew so fast that Fritz Haupt finally had to give up his meanwhile resumed profession as a university lecturer in order to devote all his energy to his growing company. He soon moved to Dippoldiswalde in the eastern Ore Mountains with new and bigger production facilities. After the forced nationalization of the company during the GDR era, Fritz Haupt, now 78 years old, succeeded in taking over the management of WEHA Kunst again in 1990 after the fall of the Berlin Wall. He successfully passed his life's work into the hands of his daughter. After her retirement in 2021, Jan Legler (Hodrewa) from Olbernhau took over the production of the renowned WEHA flower girls, which he continues in the old tradition of artful handwork.

WEHA flower girls

The enchanting WEHA Summer Flower Girls or Meadow Flower Girls radiate a childlike, naive charm. They bring memories of carefree, summer childhood days into the home with their neat hairstyles, pink chubby cheeks and round bell skirts, and through the filigree blossoms they hold in their hands. The flowers designed by WEHA Kunst are sophisticated creations made of turned wooden parts, filigree small parts made of punched and painted cardboard and wire. From anemone to yellow blanket flower, the most diverse blossoms from woods and meadows can be found in the hands of the little WEHA flower girls and are guaranteed never to wither! The body of the WEHA flower girls consists of turned individual parts and is, as always, completely assembled and painted by hand. It takes a lot of dexterity to paint the little faces and the multicolored patterns of the colorful dresses artfully and precisely on the wooden parts.
