Seiffener Volkskunst - German Guys

The collection "Clever from the Ore Mountains" expands with "typical German" poses and motifs. Here, with a wink, you can find beer-loving Bavarians, waitresses from Thuringia with steaming dumplings, and Saxon miners. German folk art is embodied in the figures of Franzl, Karl, and Grandpa Albert, who enjoy a bath in a water bucket with their chubby bellies. The ball-shaped smoking figures from Seiffener Volkskunst are traditional craftsmanship from the Ore Mountains.

Typically German!

The relatively new design of the smokers as ball figures is applied in the design of the German characters. The plump bellies of the figures suggest a lively consumption of beer. With the Räuchermännchen "Bavarian" and the waitress in traditional costume, you can bring Oktoberfest to your home. The waitress in a Dirndl, despite carrying three liters of beer and a full plate, still has a broad grin on her face. She's probably serving the already well-inebriated Bavarian in Lederhosen, wearing a typical hat on his head and holding a pretzel in his hand, who has already ordered a refill for his beer mug.

Summer is here! The small, blue-filled wash tubs from SVK are entirely occupied by the "German guys" named Franzl, Karl, and Albert. Bavarian Franzl, with his amusing Bavarian hat, doesn't mind having his pipe in his mouth while bathing and even treats himself to a beer. Räuchermann Karl is equally eye-catching: with a Santa hat, sunglasses, and a white beard, he's probably the most relaxed Christmas figure in the entire Ore Mountains. Grandpa Albert looks through his reading glasses at today's newspaper headlines. With his legs stretched out, he enjoys his time in the pool.

Clever from the Ore Mountains

A creative idea and a turned wooden ball gave birth to a whole new collection of wooden figures. The amusing ball-shaped smoking figures called in the Ore Mountain dialect "Kugelmännel" were designed by Diplom-Designer Karsten Braune from Seiffen. As a trained wooden toy maker, his designs brought new ideas and concepts to the world of Ore Mountain figures.

In cooperation with the workshop of Seiffener Volkskunst eG, founded in 1958 as a cooperative of skilled artisans, the funny ball figures and also our German Guys are brought to life, serving as decorations for the entire year. The ball figures are ambassadors for "Clever from the Ore Mountains" and have already won countless hearts with their mischievous grins and humorous forms.

Karsten Braun's design ideas have already won the "German Toy Design Award," recognition at the "Saxon State Prize for Design," multiple awards for "Tradition and Form," and the "Reader's Prize" from a regional newspaper.

These modern smokers boast fresh and cheeky designs that not only captivate traditional enthusiasts but also attract the younger generation. Collectors of genuine Ore Mountain wooden art have long fallen in love with these original figures.
