The origins of the company Holzkunst Gahlenz date back to 1928. Initially, the company focused on the production of objects for everyday life, but never lost sight of the already then well-known Gahlenz incense smokers. Today, Holzkunst Gahlenz offers almost the entire range of wooden art from the Ore Mountains. From the Gahlenz Angel and Smoking Man to the Nutcracker and the Candle Arch, everything is produced in the workshops. The innovative designs of the sensual star-headed angels and cute bent-eared rabbits from Holzkunst Gahlenz enjoy great popularity. A large selection of Easter items completes the product range. Gahlenz places special emphasis on maintaining the typical Ore Mountains character of their figures. In the production of Erzgebirgskunst Gahlenz, the company focuses on social responsibility and environmental sustainability.

Record-breaking arts and crafts.

The company Gahlenz Holzkunst is one of the few manufacturers from the Ore Mountains that produces life-size nutcrackers and smoking men. The beautiful, impressive specimens are available up to a size of 220 cm. On request, even Christmas pyramids of several meters are made individually. Only workshops with excellent craftsmanship can take on such challenges. With 30 employees, state-of-the-art technology and over 100 years of experience, Gahlenz achieves incredible things. The Christmas pyramid made by Holzkunst Gahlenz at the Dresden Striezelmarkt is the largest in the world at 14.62 meters and is in the Guinness Book of Records.

Sensual Kittens by Frieder Weisflog

The sensual kittens with Frieder Weisflog's design from a Zschopau workshop are made by Holzkunst Gahlenz. No matter if climbing, in standing or sitting position - the little ones simply make a great figure. Characteristic of the elegant kittens are the simple sinuous shape, the hollow turned belly and the curved tail in different positions. The cheeky beard gives the cats a cheeky touch and contributes to the unmistakable character of the shapely figures. The structure of the wood grain is preserved by the glaze, which again emphasizes the naturalness and liveliness of the kittens. The sensual cats are available in different shapes and either in a simple wood tone, elegant black or strong ocher. Due to the novel design, the kittens fit especially into a modern interior style. The contemporary design as well as the high quality of craftsmanship in the execution was recognized in 2005 with the design award "Tradition and Form".

Gahlenz Nutcracker and Smoking Man

Although our nutcracker assortment does not include a 2-meter man by Gahlenz, it does include approximately 30-centimeter-long figures in the style of Saxon officers, grenadiers, and the U.S. national figure Uncle Sam. The iconic motif is easily recognizable with the white hair and the US flag on suit with top hat and certainly the "American Dream" among nutcracker fans from far away.
