Kunstgewerbe Lenk & Sohn

Sehmatal-Cranzahl, the home town of “Lenk & Sohn Arts & Crafts”, lies not far from the Czech border. The Bärenstein, with its height of 898 m, overlooks the wooded landscape and can be seen from afar. In addition to a ride on the historic "Fichtelbergbahn" - a well known a train driven by a steam locomotive - well-maintained footpaths and cycle paths invite you to hike and cycle through the extensive forest areas. The family business “Lenk & Sohn” was founded in 1998 by Bernd Lenk who leads it together with his son Claudio. It includes a workshop, a showroom and a museum of smoker figures.

Lenk & Sohn Christmas Pyramids

Lenk & Sohn Christmas pyramids are very pretty to look at due to the additional decorations of the arch that reaches up to the fan wheel. Small bells and stylized fir branches are cut out of the bow in elaborate fretwork and protrude slightly, which creates a very nice and lively aspect. Of course, the typical Lenk & Sohn “layer trees” should not be missing, which give these pyramids their characteristic appearance. The quaint little trees, made of many layers of wood laid on top of each other, surround the axis.They are also often used as a further decorative element on the platforms.

Lenk & Sohn Candle Arches

The Candle Arches manufactured in the Lenk & Sohn workshops are richly decorated. In addition to the lively sceneries of typical Ore Mountain motifs such as forest workers and carol singers, the arch is often decorated with bright, jagged patterns that remind of hanging, snow-covered fir branches - surrounding the motiv and creating a very special atmosphere.
Sometimes, like on the “Candle Arch with Winter Children”, these inserted fretwork pieces represent an entire winter landscape. The candle arch "Nativity" is also remarkably beautiful. Here, the motif of Christ's birth with the Holy Kings arriving is depicted atmospherically against the backdrop of an oriental town. The ingenious lighting gives the scene an additional 3D effect. The light triangles from Lenk & Sohn are just as elaborately manufactured as the candle arches. The sophisticated use of lights between the individual layers also gives them an effect of spatial depth.

Lenk & Sohn Smokers and Christmas ornaments

Lenk & Son has also designed some beautiful “smokers” - for example the cute magician or the historical steamlock based on the historical Fichtelbergbahn mentioned above. Last but not least several sets of Christmas tree decorations made of filigree fretwork with typical traditional motifs such as the light angel, the light miner or carolers round off our Lenk & Sohn product range.

The Lenk & Sohn family business produces typical Erzgebirge articles such as Christmas pyramids, Candle Arches, or Smokers. Only specially selected beech and birch wood is used for the high-quality products. Through repeated surface treatment and the skilful use of lighting and refined details, the items get ‘that certain something’ for the sophisticated taste.
